This Schumacher Instant Portable Power Source has an on/off switch that activates the jump start mode. A built-in charger for automatic charging of the internal battery; just connect an extension cord to the plug to recharge (cord not included). Best in class–had a couple cars with shorts that needed lots of jumps and went through three other brands. Every one under 0 could not last or keep a charge long enough to work on demand.
The 2212 instantly started a dead battery on cold mornings. The 3 amp charger is much faster than cheapo models.
Basically it is a durable solid unit. You’ll need to spend over 0 for a better jump starter. The long cables let me solidly place it while jumping, unlike the other boxes that barely reached.

I had a battery that only provided enough power to make a click when turning the key. I ordered this, charged it for a day and hooked it to my battery. Finding the proper grounding spot is critical. I was alerted to the fact that I found a good ground finally after the 2004 Nissan Frontier Pickup’s interior lights came on and the ding (key in ignition with open door) started blaring. The truck started right up.
I then later used it to start a battery in a 2000 Mustang. The battery was very drained and the car would not start, similar to the above scenario. Found the ground spot and the car started. After plugging the device back up, in less than an hour it was fully recharged. Read more...

The thing work as advertised. It went for about two weeks without a charge, while handling five or six jump starts. The power docking station is handy just plug in a make a space for it to sit. The light is a nice feature that I haven’t had a used yet, but it does leave you with a peace of mind to know that it’s there.
There is only one downside to it, the charge indicator LEDs don’t work properly. On my unit two lights come on when you check button, Fully Charged and Needs Charging. It may be a defect in my unit, other than that it works perfectly Read more...
