This is awesome! One drawback, the directions are a little confusing. There are two sets, one in the little pamphlet, another in the form of stickers on the actual product. One says charge 12 hours before using, the other says 48 hours. One says, for jump-starting, connect directly to the battery, the other says connect as you would to another car (red cable to red terminal, black cable to a non-moving metal part of the engine or “ground”). I did it connecting to a ground and that worked. It also said let sit for five minutes before starting your engine, but I tried it right away and that also worked fine. Read more...

For Christmas I wanted to buy my parents an auto battery starter that would work without them having to get out of their car, since they live in the Rocky Mountains where it can stay below freezing. My husband informed me because of their elevation, climate and they drive an SUV they would need something with a lot my amps; so with his help on line we found the jumpstart 4000. Dad was so excited to get it, he opened it before Christmas and had it out during our visit starting quads that had been sitting out in the snow and not running for quite some time. Then wouldn’t you know it our Ford F-250 truck would not start one morning, after a -9 degree F night, when we were taking our one year old to the Urgent care with a 103.7 fever. We grabbed the Jumpstart and the the truck was up and running in minutes. By the time we were headed home from our Rocky Mt.Colorado trip the Jumpstart had been used nearly everyday, even to jump the neighbors snow plow.
